“Fernwood Botanical Gardens”

November 10 “Annual Holiday Luncheon and Fundraiser”
We will have our usual fabulous raffle prizes, a silent auction, “Take A Chance”, and we will have the wonderful bake sale. The program will be “Holiday Creations” by Joan Singer and Eileen Weeder, from Bertold’s Flower, Gift, and Garden Center in Elk Grove Village, who will design and assemble several floral arrangements for us that will be raffled off at the end of the presentation.  March 21 “Chicago Flower and Garden Show”

 May 17 “Plant for Polinators”
Author Sharon Yiesla will present a program to help learn who the pollinators are, and what types of flowers will attract them. Co-sponsored by our club and the Des Plaines Public Library. The time will be 7:00PM at the library. Free, but registration is required, at 1-847-827-5551
 May 20 “Plant and Bake Sale”
Come for the plant sale, stay for the bake sale. Our members share the treasures from their gardens – beautiful plants at bargain prices. And do try the examples of members’ culinary skills. From 8:30 am to 12:00 noon at Frisbie Senior Center, 52 E. Northwest Highway, Des Plaines, Ill. Contact the club at desplainesgardenclub@yahoo.com
 June 8 “86th Birthday Celebration Trip”
To Acorn Hollow, Hosta Gardens, in West Chicago, Ill., to see the beautiful gardens and hosta collection. Then on to St. Charles for a two-hour trip on the Fox River, aboard the Paddlewheel Riverboat. A picnic lunch will be served aboard the boat. On the way home, we will stop at Midwest Groundcovers, a wholesale nursery, where members will be able to purchase at wholesale prices. It also has beautiful display gardens designed by Roy Diblik.
 July 13 “Annual Members’ Garden Walk”
